Tekken 7 (鉄拳7) is a fighting game developed and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game is the ninth installment in the Tekken series, and the first to make use of the Unreal Engine. Tekken 7 had a limited arcade release in Japan in March 2015. An updated arcade version, Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, was released in Japan in July 2016, and features expanded content including new stages, costumes, items and characters. The same version was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in June 2017.
Series creator Katsushiro Harada has revealed that the Tekken Series is actually more popular in Europe and North America; the annual 4Gamer end of year report has just been released and this edition has revealed that a total of 44 million copies have been sold in the history of the series. Considering the popularity of fighting games in Japan, it's a surprise to see that even Oceania is ranked higher in the sales chart.
If ever there was a need for another phrase to replace "Jumping the Shark" or "Nuking the Fridge" my vote goes to "Volcano the Fight". Because, you know, nothing screams insanity more than fighting in a volcano, am I right? This opening crammed in so many explosions I thought it was directed by Michael Bay.
Even though we received a fair amount of game play footage from the Location Tests held at the start of October, some fans missed out on the excitement, and lets face it, the streams weren't that great. Bandai-Namco have released a trailer showcasing some new features such as Rage Arts which adds a Street Fighter IV style cinematic (thankfully time stops while the animation is in effect) to the certain moves performed during Rage. It also showed off two new characters, Claudio Serafino (who's facial tattoo reminds me of FFVIII's Zell Dincht) and Katarina Alves.
