My Achievement obsession, and this years push to 100,000 Gamerscore

The past year and a bit of achievement farming has been fun. Contrary to the 2013 article by Cameron Gidari, I don't think that achievements have ruined the way that I play, rather it has been enhanced. I now analyse how they were made and how the developers intended you to play. Once I've figured out that, I then try to find ways to circumvent the "everyday play" game mechanic. I've gone from someone who used to mindlessly consume games for brief snippets of enjoyment, to someone who now fully appreciates them for what they are.

This obsession started back in 2010 if you can believe that. I wasn't as enthusiastic about it back then as what I am now, heck my Gamerscore per month is almost half what I had in total back then. After some searching I was able to find the tweet where I stated my goal to reach 10,000 Gamerscore before 2011. For the record I did make it to 10,000 with half an hour to spare.

It wasn't until I discovered True Achievements at the end of September 2014 that things started to get super cereal. As you can see from the breakdown of Gamerscore milestones below, after I joined True Achievements, I went from 5,000 Gamerscore per year, to per month.

* True Achievement's dates are a little off due to the way they calculate "offline" achievements. Once I found out that it was important to be online at the time of obtaining the achievement for it to have validity, I tried my best to always be online.

Shortly after joining True Achievements I jokingly gave myself a goal of 35,000 thinking that it would be possible to get but at the same time it would be difficult enough to give me something to aim for. After obtaining that faster than I expected, I started to give myself little goals every now and again to keep myself sane. At the end of 2014 I gave myself a goal of 75,000 Gamerscore by the end of 2015. 40,000 extra Gamerscore seemed almost impossible for me, but I was able to get that my mid September. For more laughs I extended to goal to 100,000 Gamerscore. If I reach that by end of year, that's 65% of my total Gamerscore achieved within one year of my 6 year tenure on Xbox Live. Disgusting, I know.

To achieve this goal, I need 300 Gamerscore per day to just scrape in before the deadline. I'm going to make a list of the games that I will be attempting to farm during the final months of 2015. The plan will be to get the minimum daily requirement, then start on other games not on the list in an effort to drop the daily requirement which I will re-assess each week.
